Cityview is accessible by public transit. We are near the UIC/Halsted Stop on the Blue Line and near the #20 Madicon Bus route Peoria Stop.
Driving to Cityview
Cityview is accessible from the Kennedy (I-90/I-94) and Eisenhower (I-290) Expressways. If travelling via Kennedy Expressway (I-90/I-94) from the north, exit at the Monore St. exit ramp (51E) and turn right. (West) Head west on Monroe for 0.02 miles until you reach Peoria. Turn right onto Peoria and travel .1 miles. The school is on the corner of Madison and Peoria. If travelling via the Eisenhower Expressway, exit at Racine. Turn left onto Racine and head north 0.4 miles until you reach Madison. Turn right onto Madison and head east for another 0.4 miles until you reach Peoria.
What about children and nursery?
Children of all ages are a vibrant part of our community here at Cityview! We value and take great delight in our children’s personalities, abilities and immense potential for spiritual understanding. They are loved and welcomed. Jesus’ admonition in Matthew 19, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these," is an under girding, energizing theme of our children’s ministry.
Children are always welcome in worship, but nursery is provided for children under age 3 from beginning to end of service, should parents prefer.
Classes for the preschool and elementary age children (3-10 years) begins at “intermission,†a break in the worship service designated in the worship guide and announced in service. Unlike the nursery which meets each week, these elementary classes meet the first few Sundays of each month. The final Sunday of the month is reserved for the family to worship together, and no preschool and elementary classes are held. We feel it is important for the children to understand how their parents learn about and worship God as a community of believers.
What to expect each Sunday
Our Sunday service of corporate worship is a time when we gather together to celebrate what God is doing in the world through Jesus Christ. Our worship consists of song and prayer, teaching and celebration of the Lord’s Supper, and fellowship. Whether you consider yourself a Christian spiritually-skeptical or curious about Christianity, we would love for you to join us.
What to wear
For whatever reason, the question of appropriate attire can cause a great deal of anxiety. At Cityview, while we are certainly on the more casual end of the spectrum, you are free to wear whatever you are most comfortable in. A dress is great. Jeans are absolutely fine. Truthfully, it doesn't matter.
